I highly recommend it to fans of Red Rising; Dune is almost certainly a major influence for Pierce Brown. I never got into the sequels. Ok so I loved the Red Rising series but as far as the space Sci-fi aspect the best I have for you is Helldivers. The grit of Red Rising can be found in the First Law Trilogy by Joe Abercrombie but its set in sort of a medieval time frame. If you don't mind the medieval time frame the Echos Saga is pretty great too.Pacing wise, I think Red Rising does start a little slow – if only to detail the intriguing backstory of this rich sci-fi universe.
